Spare the Air

Spare the AirThe Spare the Air Program was established by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District to educate people about air pollution, and to encourage them to change their behavior to prevent it. On Spare the Air Days, help fight pollution by driving less, taking public transportation, ridesharing, walking, or biking.

The Metropolitan Transportation Commission and Bay Area Air Quality Management District sponsored six free transit days for the first six non-holiday weekdays declared Spare the Air days. Free transit rides were offered on June 22nd, 23rd, and 26th and July 17th, 20th and 21st. We thank you for supporting the Bay Area's efforts to keep our air clean on Spare the Air days. The summer's ozone season is not over -- we hope that you will continue to try alternative transportation options and spare the air!
