New 2+ Carpool Lane Capacity is Open!
I-680 southbound now has a continuous HOV-2 lane from Marina Vista Ave. to Rudgear Rd. The lane joins the existing Express Lane at Rudgear Rd., creating a 25-mile managed lane from Marina Vista Ave. to Alcosta Blvd. free to carpools.
Access to the I-680 southbound managed lane is restricted with double white lines from SR-242 to Treat Blvd. and from Rudgear Rd. to Stone Valley Rd.
Hours of operation:
- Southbound - MON-FRI, 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Carpool occupancy: 2 or more people
From Marina Vista Ave. to Rudgear Rd., solo drivers cannot use this lane 5 a.m. - 8 p.m. Mon. - Fri. Once tolling starts in early 2021, solo drivers must have a standard FasTrak or FasTrak Flex tag set in "1" to pay tolls to use the lane.
From Marina Vista Ave. to Rudgear Rd., carpools, vanpools, motorcycles and eligible Clean Air Vehicles can use this lane at any time. FasTrak Flex and FasTrak CAV toll tags will be required once tolling begins in early 2021.
This southbound HOV-2 lane becomes an express lane at Rudgear Road. Drivers wishing to continue past Rudgear Road in the far-left lane must have FasTrak. Learn how to use the express lanes between Walnut Creek and San Ramon.
