Carpool to BART

Carpool to BART with the BART Official App

BART’s Carpool Parking program, offered through the BART Official App, allows carpoolers to purchase parking and to park anywhere in the Reserved sections of BART parking lots, which typically are better located and have more availability. The program is currently available at all BART stations with Reserved parking (all stations except Glen Park, Pittsburg Center, Milpitas and Berryessa/North San Jose stations).

Paper carpool permits are no longer accepted, and dedicated carpool stalls have been phased out.

SPECIAL NOTICE TO CARPOOL TO BART PERMIT PARKING PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS:

BART’s Carpool Parking program completed its transition to the BART app in October 2020. From 2016 to 2020, the 511.org website served as an online portal for the program for the purpose of issuing BART carpool parking permits. Carpool parking permits issued during this period were stored as portable document format (PDF) files on 511.org until October 2023. These PDF files — which included permitholders’ names, addresses, and BART permit numbers — were not directly available on the 511.org website. However, they were publicly accessible files that could have been accessed with a specialized scanning tool by individuals specifically searching for unsecured information. The Metropolitan Transportation Commission in October 2023 blocked public access to these files.
